His wife, Mrs. Kelechi Patricia Ogochi, who spoke with journalists said her husband was returning from dropping his children in school when the incident occurred.
According to her, five fearful-looking operatives of the SACS jumped down from a Hilux van which later blocked the car in which her husband was driving and commanded him to drive to the Police headquarters, Umuahia, where he was asked to park his car. They subsequently arrested him and put him in their own van.
After that, they took him to Central Police station, CPS, where he was asked to write a statement over a petition written and signed by his half-brother, Martin Apugo, alleging threats of their lives by Kelechi.
Meanwhile, a family source has told Daily Sun that the arrest is not unconnected with the tussle for the state House of Assembly seat, which is now in court, between the two brothers, one an APGA candidate and the other, a PDP candidate.
Confirming the story, the Abia State Police public Relation Officer, Nta Ogbonnaya Nta (ASP), said that the men came for investigation in the state and decided to report to the command: “they later took their suspect to CPS; we did not know anything about what they came for.”
