Telecoms company, Etisalat, has launched an internet-enabled application that offers access to varieties of educational materials to millions of students in the country. The platform, known as Cliqlite Portal, presents varieties of educative
materials in a delightful package for children between the ages of eight and 15.
Speaking at the launch in Lagos recently, the Chief Executive Officer, Etisalat Nigeria, Matthew Willsher, said the new educational platform was tailored to the specific needs of young learners to enrich their learning experiences.
“The product is an innovative service that supports education and learning. It gives both students and parents access to educational materials not just on the tablet but also on any internet enabled-device,” he said.
Willsher said the initiative highlights the importance the company attaches to quality education as well as its commitment to investing in the education sector through a number of platforms, which include: Adopt-a-School Programme, Etisalat Telecommunications Engineering Post-graduate Programme (ETEPP), Career Counselling and Merit Awards.
Sun Education gathered that Etisalat Cliqlite was introduced two years ago as the first indigenous educational product on a tablet by any telecommunication firm to improve the learning experience of students. The package offers a bouquet of NERDC- approved education materials such as text books and instructional lessons on different subjects, past questions from JAMB, SSCE and IGCSE and interactive games that students and parents can use together to make learning fun.
Offering more insights on the portal, Ifeoluwa Oyeyipo, Manager, Teen Segment, explained that Cliqlite Portal was borne out of the need to expand the access scope of the educational product to millions of children and students.
“Cliqlite has been a huge break with testimonials of success among students. We wanted to expand the scope to enable millions of students who have other internet-enabled devices access the product and enrich their learning experience. By this, we are using what they love to give them what they need which is quality education,” she said.
While commending the initiative, the Proprietress of Taqwa School, Ifako-Ijaye, Alhaja Motunrayo Alimi, said Cliqlite supports the academic growth of children and urged parents to key into the platform.
Also, the One-Day Governor of Lagos State, 2015, Idowu Sonoikim said he found Cliqlite beneficial to his academic career, describing it as a good motivation for young learners.
Siun Education gathered that Cliqlite has data parental control features which enables parents to block undesired sites. Parents can also review the lessons their children studied to ensure that specific areas were covered within a given lesson period.
