Elle is a popular lifestyle magazine that focuses on health, beauty, entertainment and fashion.
Elle
is the world’s largest fashion magazine, with 43 international editions
in over 60 countries, one of which is South Africa. Recently, the South
African magazine made a list of 50 African women who shape the
continent and six of them were Nigerian.
Fashion editor of
the magazine, Dimeji Alara shared the news on his Twitter page and the
full list appears in the new August issue of the magazine.
Here are the Nigerian women who were recognized:
1. Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
Omotola
Jalade Ekeinde is a Nigerian actress, singer, philanthropist and former
model. Since her Nollywood film debut in 1995, the leading actress has
appeared in 300 films, selling millions of video copies.
2. Oby Ezekwesili
Obiageli
Ezekwesili is a Nigerian chartered accountant. She was a co-founder of
Transparency International, serving as one of the pioneer directors of
the global anti-corruption body based in Berlin, Germany. (She was recently honored by the University of Essex)
3. Mildred Okwo
Mildred
Okwo is a Nigerian film director and producer. She was nominated for
Best Director award at the 4th Africa Movie Academy Awards
4. Omoyemi Akerele
Omoyemi
Akerele is the founder and artistic director of Style House Files, a
creative development agency for Nigerian and African designers.
5. Modupe Ozolua
Modupe
Ozolua is a social Entrepreneur and Philanthropist. She is the Chief
Executive Officer of Body Enhancement limited in Nigeria. Body
Enhancement Ltd pioneered cosmetic surgery in Nigeria in 2001 and
aesthetic lasers in 2007.
6. Blessing Okagbare
Blessing
Okagbare-Ighoteguonor is a Nigerian track and field athlete who
specializes in long jumping and short sprints. She is an Olympic and
World Championships medalist in the long jump, and a world medalist in
the 200-meter race.
