Singer pens open letter to fellow Bachelors

After months of marriage shaming the R&B crooner has had it! This time, he writes an open letter to single men and women in the society.

After months of marriage shaming the R&B crooner has had it! This time, he writes an open letter to single men and women in the society.
According to him ‘he can’t even post good morning on social media, without someone saying "yes but it will be a better morning when you marry’.

He took to Instagram on July 10, 2016 writing, “My fellow Bachelors & Bachelorette
For too long we have been teased, harassed and tormented by Society with "When will you marry" and "when is your wedding" ?? It is getting out of hand. U don't see us going around to old people asking them " please when is your funeral"? These days, I can't even post "Good morning" on social media, without someone saying "yes but it will be a better morning WHEN YOU MARRY!" It is with this in mind, that #GidiLove was created. The song is in defense of all single people in Lagos and all over the world. Some of us are just not ready. Some of us are single and searching but it hasn't worked out yet. There are others who may just not want to get married at all. The point is that, in the words of the great @youngskales, it's Nobody's Business. By God's grace we will get there.. we will settle down with the right person and live happily ever after. But until then, pls leave us alone. Because the same people who are pressuring us and talking us into marriage, are the same people who will mock us and talk ABOUT us if the marriage ends quickly.

If it's party rice you people want, we will give you party rice. And peppered fish. And Ciroc to wash it all down. But leave us and our single status alone. My fellow Single people, waste no time in downloading #GidiLove today. So the next time someone asks u those annoying questions, just smile and play the jam for them.
By Order of the most Eligible Bachelor in Lagos."

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo blamed actions of the militants for the current economic challeng– He said the Niger Delta Avengers were fighting for their own selfish benefit The federal government said the Niger Delta Avengers were not fighting for the freedom of the Niger Delta but rather for their own selfish interests. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said the militants were fighting for their private pocket and that is why the government is not talking with them, Vanguard reports.
Prof Yemi Osinbajo, vice president of Nigeria Yemi Osinbajo said the Niger Delta Avengers were not fighting for the freedom of the Niger Delta He disclosed this while delivering the second foundation lecture of Elizade University, Ilaramokin, Ondo state entitled “The Future is here earlier than we thought.” “They are economic warriors fighting for their private pockets. They are not working for the interest of the region. “They had been creating more problems in the region by their activities. They had been polluting environment and making lives more difficult for the people,” Osinbajo said. The Vice president said rather than glorifying the militant group, they should be blamed saying if they were freedom fighters why would they destroy source of economic power. Condemning the activities of the Avengers, he said the federal government has concluded arrangements to tackle the menace of pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta region. “The previous government neglected the region for several years, hence the current challenges in the region. Osinbajo noted that Federal Government has put machinery in motion to curtail the activities of Niger Delta Avengers,” he said.  Eleme youths, NDAvengers react According to him, the activities of the Avengers were responsible for the epileptic power supply in the country. SHOCKING: Man diverts 33,000 litres of fuel, sets truck ablaze

https://i.onthe.io/vllkyt676cngl1k1t.0d5e8e5b.jpg
Man diverts 33,000 litres of fuel, sets truck ablaze

– A 24-year-old man by the name Osas Uwagie has been apprehended by the police
– The Edo state indigene who is also a tanker driver spoke on how he diverted a tanker loaded with 33,000 litres of diesel
 – Uwagie said the reason for the diversion was nothing more than because of the bad friends he keeps The man who hails from Edo state was said to have been employed by an oil and gas firm (name withheld) located in Lagos state. Uwagie was on his way to Abuja to supply the said diesel when he diverted the oil tanker to Okene in Kogi state. Upon getting to the Kogi state town, he was reported to have sold 400 litres of diesel to one of his customers, who paid him N230,000 cash, while the remaining 32, 600 litres was sold to a fuel station in the same location for N1.5 million which he was promised he will get the payment later.  33,000 litres Osas, Uwagie, the suspected oil thief who was said to have diverted 33,000 litres of diesel oil Information had it that after selling off the diesel in the tanker, the 24-year-old man and his partners in crime drove the tanker along the Abuja-Lokoja Road and set the tanker on fire. In addition, reports had it that when the Lagos-based oil and gas company could not get to Uwagie, it reported the matter to the police at State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba in Lagos state, where investigations began, As a result of the investigation by the CID officers, the suspect who had run away was nabbed in Kogi state. While speaking about the incident, the Edo state indigene stated that he bribed policemen with N200,000 to allow him run away. He narrated:“I am from a very poor background. I could not go to school due to financial constraint. When I grew up, I had to find something to take care of myself. I met a friend who was a tanker driver and I started following him. He taught me how to drive tanker and I was absorbed in the same company where he works. “My friend is currently in prison for also diverting a tanker. He was the one who talked me into diverting the tanker as well as selling off the contents. On the day of the incident, I had loaded the tanker with 32,000 litres of diesel which I was supposed to supply to a filling station in Abuja. I, however, saw it as an opportunity to perfect the plan my friend in prison and I, had. “I drove to Okene in Kogi state, stopped at a particular location there and sold off 400 litres for N230,000. While I was driving out from the spot, I was stopped by the police. They asked me a few questions for which I couldn’t give appropriate answers. They then started suspecting that I had diverted the tanker. I came out straight and told them the truth. Later, I contacted an old time friend called Kabiru to connect me to people who could buy all the products. Kabiru sent one of his boys called Joseph Kola to take me to a filling station where I could get a buyer. When I got there, the owner of the filling station asked why I wanted to sell the diesel and I told him that the management of the company I work with had authorized me to do so. The man then told us he didn’t have money to pay. So, I instantly called Kabiru who asked me to wait there, that he would send someone else to take me to another possible buyer. He sent one Oyeko who then took me to another filling station. We met with the owner and I told him I wanted to sell only 400 litres, but the man insisted I sell the 32,600 litres to him. I saw reasons with him and decided to do as he said.” Uwagie did not stop there. He revealed how he set the truck on fire. He said: “Surprisingly, after discharging the diesel, they told me there was no cash on ground and requested I leave my account number, that they would get back to me. I then asked them what would happen to the truck and they said it was best I set it ablaze and disappear. They asked me to follow them as they drove in front of me. When we got to Abuja road, they asked me to park the truck close to a drainage, so that it would look like it fell and the diesel poured out. They came out, opened the bonnet of the tanker, poured fuel on it and then sparked the battery head and fire engulfed the tanker.”

N22.8bn Alleged Fraud: Ex-Airforce Chief, Amosun, Others Opt for Plea Bargain

By Davidson Iriekpen
Former Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Adesola Amosun (rtd) and two senior serving Air Force officers have opted for plea bargain in their ongoing trial by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged corruption
Amosun and the two serving senior air force officers, Air Vice Marshal Adigun, Commodore Olugbenga and some companies were charged before the court on June 29, for the alleged offences.
The companies were Delfina Oil and Gas Limited, McAllan Oil and Gas Limited, Hebron Housing and Properties Company Limited, Trapezitrs Bureau De Change ((BDC), Fonds and Pricey Limited, Deegee Oil and Gas Limited, Timsegg Investment Limited, and Solomon Health Care Limited.
The accused persons were alleged to have committed the offences between March 5, 2014, and May 4, 2015.
The offences according to the EFCC are contrary to sections 18(a) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) (Amendment) Act, 2012, and punishable under Section 15(3) of the same Act.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charge.
At the resumed hearing of the case yesterday, the EFCC prosecutor, Rotimi Oyedepo, informed the court that the defendants had commenced a move to enter into a plea bargain with the federal government.
He tendered a draft copy of the terms of the plea bargain to the court, which he said he had served on the defendants.
But the defence counsel, comprising Mr. Norrison Quakers (SAN), Mr. Kemi Balogun (SAN), Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN) and Mr. A. Etuokwu, informed the court that the business of the day was for report of compliance with the order of the court regarding the verification of the defendants’ bail conditions.
Quakers argued that though the defendants were the ones who broached the idea of a plea bargain, they needed to be out of the EFCC custody first before they would be able to negotiate properly with the prosecution.
“When a man is in a custodian environment, anything you want him to say, he’d say; anything you want him to do, he will do. We should not be stampeded or boxed into a corner,” Quakers said.
Noting that the draft copy of the plea bargain was only just served on the defence counsel on Friday (yesterday) morning, Quakers argued that defendants were entitled under Section 36(6) (b) of the 1999 Constitution to be given adequate time and facility to prepare their defence.
Also, Ayorinde and Etuokwu aligned with the argument and insisted that the order of the court on the bail of the defendants must first be complied with.
Opposing, EFCC lawyer insisted that the business of the day was for the trial to commence, noting that he had a witness ready in court.
He said it was not the making of the EFCC that the defendants were still in custody, despite the fact that the EFCC did not oppose their applications for bail, noting that the EFCC investigators sacrificed their holiday period to verify compliance with the bail conditions.
Oyedepo added that the defence counsel already had knowledge of the plea bargain terms and should either proceed with it or he was ready to open trial.
After prolonged arguments between the parties, Justice Idris, in a short ruling, ordered the EFCC to conclude the verification of the defendants’ bail conditions on or before Monday, July 11, 2016.
Justice Idris stated that he had noted from the draft plea bargain that negotiation was already ongoing between the state and the defendants and that the defendants had shown a “clear, positive and strong intention” to settle with the government.
He adjourned till September 12 and 13, 2016 for trial.
The three Air Force Officers and their companies were alleged to have converted N22.8 billions belonging to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), to their personal use.
In one of the counts of the charge, the accused persons were alleged to have converted the sum of N21,467,634,707.43 billion, property of the Nigerian Air Force, which sum was derived from stealing, to their personal use.
They were also alleged to have between May 5, 2014 and 4 May 4, 2015 in Lagos, indirectly converted the sum of N5, 291, 306, 950.28 Billion, property of the Nigerian Air Force.
Amosu, Adigun and Olugbenga, were alleged to have between July 17, and September 16, 2014, used the British Pounds Sterling equivalent of sum of N663, 443,291 million, removed from the accounts of the Nigerian Air Force to purchase two properties situated at 50-52 Tenterden Grove, London (NW41TH) and 93B Shirehall Park, London NW4 2QU, United Kingdom.
